🌻 (sunflower) - What’s something your character has grown out of? Did it happen gradually or was it a drastic change? What caused this shift?

When Edge was little, he was actually entirely nonverbal! I always like to imagine most Papyri are quiet when very young, and took a while before their first words, but few to the same degree.

Id say it was both gradual and drastic, as he started offering a few sparse words to Red when he was around 6-9, but once they were on their own, there was more pressure to "act normal", so he wound up forcing himself to verbally communicate more frequently than he would've chosen.

Whiiich also sort of answers the next part! It was mostly pressure from "the outside world" (the rest of the underground). Pretty much anything can be perceived as a weakness, and since "quiet" reads more as "shy" for a child/teen, Red discouraged Edge from communicating predominantly in Hands.

👥 The Roses

He's been trying out various nicknames on the Rose siblings since meeting them. The broses, j^2, big j and little j, charlie's angels, charlie brown and the peanuts. He usually gets an elbow to the ribs in return but Tad's gotten better at dodging them over the years.

At a certain point he realized he was closer to Jeremiah and Jp than he was to his own brother. That wasn't saying much, the bar was pretty low to begin with, but it still brought a wave of appreciation for the awkward 'friendship' he had with the the Rose men.

Keeps a sticker chart for Jeremiah. He gets a star every time he has a chance to be an asshole but doesn't. It's been taped together a few times after Jer snatched it and tore it to pieces.

He's covered for Jp once or twice with Sada. Tad feels he gets off easier so if he catches wind of a mistake or slip-up that he could take credit for he will. If it's something major he'll leave it to JP to deal with himself but Tad knows the kid's had a hard life and seems to take the hits a little harder than his brother.

👥 Charlie

Roman's already struggled to prove his ability to be consistent so Hannah doesn't expect this fling to last. She thinks they're both naive to think a switch is suddenly going to flip and decades of the baggage he's been ignoring will be gone.

Since Hannah's been around Charlie hasn't been the picture of stability or health. Hannah sees it as a omen of the past repeating itself; but what can she do to stop a slow-motion car crash?

Hannah has no intentions of being rude or petty. She wants Roman to move on and if she felt he could do this then more power to him.

Every time she thinks they're a terrible match she remembers that things hadn't worked for her and Roman either. Charlie is so different, maybe that was a strength and not a weakness? Only time will tell.

Might eventually tell Birdie to be the bigger woman over the slap issue but that's just because she's a smidge nicer than her ex sister in law.

He's wing-manned for her exactly once. At the W, pre apocalypse, they were each at the bar having a drink and discussing the pros and cons of liquor vs spirits (which any drinker worth their poison could tell you are not the same). A pretty little blonde walked up and tried to hit on Tobias who showed her his ring to cut her off. But instead of letting her walk away he redirected her to Valerii, smoothly excusing himself and letting her take his now empty seat.

She's asked him advice on what to get her own father for father's day. She was tired of throwing darts at a board and coming up empty. Instead of advice, Tobias actually offered her a beautiful watch of his own that had never made it out of the gift box from a birthday party years ago.

In turn, she's offered advice on issues related to Ember and Rhet. How could he be a better father? How could he show them he cared? The answer had always been the same: show up for them.

Had been working with him to plan something for next Chinese New Year. He'd been open to the idea of adding the holiday to the list that was formally celebrated by the Wexley.
